Scientists at Cambridge University have developed new plastics that will emit light. By altering the structures of the molecular chains in the plastic the colour of the light given out can also be changed. The team of physicists and chemists have developed plastics that will emit red, green or blue light and are now hoping to develp sophisticated full-clour displays. the new technology coud have many applications including light-emitting devices (LEDs) and potentially the first flat-screen television.
