A computer model developed by French scientists is being used to replace traditional methods of surgical training like dissecting corpses or animals. The virtual-reality liver simulator uses images from the Visible Human Project to simulate real situations, such as tumours, to enable the surgeon to perfect key-hole surgery techniques.
