The Intel Teraflop is the world's fastest computer, capable of performing one trillion operations every second. One of it's first jobs was to calculate the damage caused by a 1km comet hitting the Earth. The results show that such an impact would be equivalent to ten times the explosive power of all the world's nuclear weapons at the height of the cold war.
