Science Photo Library (SPL) has a deserved strong reputation for being the leading provider of specialist science images. However, our images are often much more widely used than might be expected.
Here are some recent examples of SPL images in action. |

Seb Marling says:
"The picture was used as source material and selected on that basis. There were four different pictures overlaid and it provided an explosion effect. We decided to go to Science Photo Library because we trusted them to have some of the imagery in the area we were looking for. SPL was the first company we thought of going to."

Nick Hall, picture editor, says: "We chose the picture because of the beautiful colours, and it is very simple and very graphic. We knew that Kirlian photos would work well and that Science Photo Library would have them."

Jean Gray, editor, says: "This was a difficult topic to depict. We thought it would be a popular subject and we wanted something that would capture our readers and draw them in. This was a very cool and classy image, with soft colours and soft edges. We didn't want something that would put people off and this hit the mark for us." |
Alison Fielding says: "We decided that we needed a very stark image of a white & red blood cell which the shot fitted perfectly." |
