Royalty free and rights managed images of babies with the condition hydrocephalus. Also known also as 'water on the brain', hydrocephalus is an accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the brain. Skull enlargement occurs due to pressure from excess fluid within cavities of the brain. This condition requires intensive care after birth. In most cases, treatment involves draining excess fluid away from the brain by using a shunt (tube) inserted into the skull. If the condition is not treated in time, brain damage may occur. Pictures and photographs include diagnostic and clinical images, as well as patients being treated for the condition.
