John Dollond, optician, c1750. Pictured with a book with an overhanging leaf with the word Opticks on it. Dolland became known for his invention of the achromatic lens. Father of Peter Dollond and grandfather of George Dollond, who also worked as opticians. Artist: Posselwhite.
