Pond snail egg mass. Light micrograph showing a number of great pond snail (Lymnaea stagnalis) eggs (clear blobs), surrounded by a jelly mass (sausage-shaped). Pond snails lay their eggs encased in jelly for protection. Here the egg's yolk sacs (yellow) can be seen. These were found on the underside of a leaf of the white water lily.
