Red flour beetle. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the head of a red flour beetle (Tribolium castaneum). Red flour beetles are an agricultural pest that attack stored grain products such as flour, seeds, cereals, pasta, biscuits, beans, nuts etc., causing loss and damage. This specimen was found inside a Barbados nut (Jatropha curcas) seed pod. Magnification: x63 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
