Temporal lobe in the brain. Computer artwork of a person's head showing the left hemisphere of the brain inside. The highlighted area shows the left temporal lobe. The cerebrum (telencephalon) of the brain is divided into four lobes (temporal, occipital, frontal and parietal), mirrored on each hemisphere. The temporal lobes are involved in auditory processing and are the location of the primary auditory cortex. They are important for the processing of semantics (meaning) in both speech and vision.
