Sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) raising its tail flukes clear of the water as it dives. Whales dive to feed, coming to the surface for air. This whale can grow up to 16 metres in length and weigh 40 tonnes. It feeds on squid, octopus and fish. Photographed in the Gulf of California.
