Great Egret (Ardea alba) adult feeding chicks in nest. Duval County, northeastern Florida. Also known as Great White Egret, White Heron, Common Egret, American Egret, Large Egret, White Egret. Often confused with the Great White Heron, Great Egrets have black legs and feet, while the Great White Heron has light greenish-blue legs. The Great White Heron also has a much more restricted range. The Great Egret is the symbol of the National Audubon Society.
