Rainbow (Steelhead) Trout Eggs in the process of hatching, with fingerlings leaving their eggs. Steelhead are anadromous Rainbow Trout that, like salmon, swim from their birthplaces in streams in the American West to the Pacific Ocean to mature. After 2 to 3 years at sea, they return to their native streams to spawn and renew the cycle.
