Maned wolf and binturong, 19th-century illustrations. At top is a maned wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus), here labelled with an earlier taxonomic name of Canis jubatus and named in French as a 'red wolf'. The maned wolf is found in South America. At bottom is a binturong (Arctictis binturong), also known as the bearcat. This viverrid (civet) is found in southern and south-eastern Asia. It is here labelled with an earlier taxonomic name of Ictides ater.
