OSTEOPOROSIS, ILLUSTRATION Sites of osteoporotic fractures. Osteoporosis affects mainly menauposed women. It results from a progressive demineralization of bones, that translates into the diminution of their density. The bone, become fragile, can then fracture very easily. The fractures most recent are the ones of vertebral column (vertebral settling, 44%), femur neck (19%), wrist (14%).
