ATHEROMA, DRAWING Myocardial infarction (plaque of atheroma). A myocardial infarction is a necrosis of a part of the cardiac muscle following the obstruction of a coronary artery. The obstruction is often due to the association of a plaque of atheroma on the wall of the artery and the formation of a thrombus. The factors of risk are smoking, high blood pressure, stress and sedentarity. See.
