Close-up of an aphthous ulcer on the inside of the lip in the mouth of a female patient. Aphthous ulcers usually occur on the mucous membrane inside the mouth, cause pain, last up to two weeks, and may be due to an injury. This ulcer followed dental treatment including local anaesthetic injection.
