X-ray (side view) of the bones of the knee of a 39 year old patient, showing the presence of bone infection (dark areas) with atypical bacteria (atypical mycobacteriosis). The bacteria were Staphylococcus aureus (37%), pneumococci (13%) and Mycobacterium tuberculosis (10%). The infection occurred after orthopaedic surgery.
