Ringworm fungal infection of the foot. Fungal skin infection between the toes of a 58-year-old man's foot. This is ringworm, also called athlete's foot, or tinea pedis, a dermatophyte infection caused by a fungus. It is highly contagious and is spread by direct contact or via infected material. It is treated by application of an antifungal agent.
