Caption

Three species of Duckweed floating at the edge of the River Stour in Dorset. Duckweed (Lemnaceae) are tiny floating plants that form green carpets on the surface of fresh water. Greater Duckweed (Spirodela polyrhiza) is the largest common Duckweed (top centre). Most of the others plants in this photo are Common Duckweed (Lemna minor) but the smallest, more transparent leaves are Least Duckweed (Lemna minuta).
