Top down view of an assassin bug (Rhynocoris iracundus) resting on a species of thistle in an olive grove habitat. These bugs feed on a range of insects that they ambush as they move about amongst plants. This species is relatively common and is found across Europe. Photographed in Corfu, Greece, in July.
