Side view of a late instar shieldbug (Carpocoris mediterraneus) resting on a scabious flower in an olive grove habitat. An instar is the developmental stage of an arthropod between each moult, until sexual maturity is reached. A member of the Pentatomidae family, this species of shield bug is found widely across southern europe. Photographed in Corfu, Greece, in June.
