Pollination. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of pollen grains (yellow) on the stigma (pink) of an Amaryllis sp. flower. The stigma is part of the female reproductive system (gynoecium) of the flower. It's surface is covered in sticky glands that catch pollen grains carried into the flower by insects or wind. Magnification x315 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
