Volcanic activity at Anak Krakatoa. View from the International Space Station (ISS) of a plume of smoke and ash rising from the volcano Anak Krakatoa on 24 September 2018. This eruption has been ongoing since 19 June 2018, with the ash plumes rising to heights of 1.8 kilometres. In this view, North is at bottom, with the ash plume being blown to the south-west over the waters of the Sunda Strait. Photographed by astronaut Alex Gerst during Expedition 56 to the ISS.
