Paddle worm larvae, darkfield illuminated light micrograph. These are the planktonic trochophore larvae of Phyllodoce citrina paddleworms, a type of polychaete marine worm. Polychaetes are a class of annelid (segmented) worms. The ciliated larvae swim in marine plankton. They have the most basic eyesight in the form of two red light sensitive spots. Magnification: x65 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
