Mosquitoes being used in arbovirus research. Researcher sorting female mosquitoes that have been anaesthetized using low temperatures (an ice bath) and are being sorted for infection with arboviruses. The infected mosquitoes will then be used in research into the transmission of the diseases. Several mosquito species are a vector for the transmission of major diseases. This research is taking place in a biosafety level-1 confined insectarium laboratory. Photographed in 2019, in the IRD Vectopole Sud laboratory in Montpellier, France.
