NEWFIRM infrared imager. NEWFIRM (NOAO Extremely Wide Field Infrared Imager) images a 28 by 28 arcmin field-of-view on the 4-metre telescopes operated by the National Optical Astronomy Observatory (NOAO). This sensor covers a wavelength range of 1 to 2.4 microns. It was in use on the 4-metre Mayall telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory (KPNO) until 2010, and since then has been in use on the 4-metre Blanco telescope at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO) in Chile.
