Mountain air treatment session. Patient using a breathing mask and air supply during a mountain air treatment (Intermittent Hypoxic Training) session. This therapy aims to improve a patient's health by provoking the normal body responses to air with reduced oxygen content (as found at high altitude). These responses include increased red blood cell production, and various hormonal responses that affect cardiac and respiratory processes. Photographed in 2006, at the Alexeev Psychiatric Clinical Hospital Number 1, Moscow, Russia.
