Pedro Duque (born 1963), Spanish astronaut and researcher, training in February 1994 at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre, Star City, near Moscow, Russia. Part of the training includes survival training in case the return journey ends up off course, and the astronauts have to survive in the wild before being rescued. Duque has trained and worked with both the Russian space agency, the European Space Agency and NASA. He has since flown on two spaceflights. These were the Space Shuttle Discovery's STS-95 mission in 1998, and the Cervantes Mission to the International Space Station in 2003.
