False colour transmission electron micrograph of the anaerobic bacteria, Bacteroides fragilis (gram negative), normally present in the alimentary & urinogenital tracts of animals & humans. It is estimated that Bacteroides spp constitutes 90% of the total microbiological flora in man. Some species, however, under certain circumstances may cause infections. Mag: X 11,750 (at 35mm size).
