Caption

Man dressed in 17th century clothes holding a replica of Thomas Harriot's Dutch Trunke telescope. Harriot was an English astronomer who, in 1609, bought a Dutch Trunke telescope, which had only been invented in 1608. The observations he made were amongst the first uses of a telescope for astronomy. Photographed in Syon Park, London, UK, in July 2009.
