CELL METABOLISM The utilization of nutrients by cells. Illustration of how a cell uses nutrients brought to it by the arterial network. The nutrients penetrate the cell, and the cell then transforms them and uses them in the form of heat, energy, proteins and reserves. The waste products created by these transformations (urea and carbon dioxide) are then evacuated by way of the veinous network.
