RAINBOW Rainbows can come in pairs. Illustration of a double rainbow effect. The rainbow in the foreground, smaller and more intensely colored, is known as the primary bow (red on the outside and violet on the inside of the arc). A secondary, dimmer but larger bow is visible in the background, with inverted colors: violet on the outside and red on the inside.
