Sand microfossils. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of microfossils from Barbados beach sand. Microfossils are roughly 0.05 to 2mm in size. Some of these are the remains of complete organisms. The common microfossils are foraminifera, ostracods, sea urchin spines and sponge spicules. Magnification: x 30 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
