Suricate (Suricata suricatta). Suricate, also known as Meerkats, are active mongooses that live in colonies in underground burrows. They feed during the day, mainly on insects, while remaining close to their burrow. The clip shows a Suricate acting as a sentinel, keeping watch and looking out for predators on behalf of the group, near the entrance to their burrow at dusk. Filmed in the Auob riverbed of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in Southern Africa.
