Caption

Animation of a look around a desolate landscape on Earth in the future. Dead trees are silhouetted against a dusty sky. This may represent the end point of runaway global warming, or the natural heating of the Earth by the brightening Sun. In a few hundred million years the Sun will have brightened enough to heat the Earth to a point where carbon dioxide is gradually removed from the atmosphere by geological processes, which would kill plants, and hence most life on Earth.
