Caption

Bearded caecilian (Caecilia tentaculata) on the forest floor. Caecilians are limbless amphibians that spend much of their time underground, feeding on worms and other small animals. Their lack of evident eyes is due to this subterranean lifestyle, and is also the root of their name, meaning "blind" in Latin. Filmed in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
