Diffuse invasive aspergillosis linked to damage to the pulmonary alveoli. The spores of aspergillus fumigatus (small fungi) reach the alveoli through the air and pulmonary routes. They can cause diffuse invasive aspergillosis in immunocompromised patients which spreads to other organs through the bloodstream.
