A Longtail Banjo Catfish or Eel-tailed Banjo Catfish (Platystacus cotylephorus) photographed in captivity, January 2017. This female specimen is about 20cm total length. The unusual reproductive mode of this catfish has females carrying their eggs beneath their abdomens. The eggs are attached to the female by tissue threads.
