Helicobacter bacteria. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of a section through Helicobacter fennelliae bacteria. These bacteria are most commonly found in the digestive tracts of male homosexuals, and are usually transmitted by sexual practices. They cause inflammation of the small intestine (enteritis), colon (colitis) and rectum (proctitis). Magnification unknown.
