Caption

Canker sore, or apthous ucler, on the lower lip of a 10 year old boy. Aphthous ulcers are non-contagious mouth ulcers (aphthae) that appear on the inside of the mouth, especially the cheeks, lips and tongue. They usually disappear within 14 days and don't scar unless they are large. They often occur in stressful situations, or when the patient is deficient in vitamin B12, folic acid or iron.
