Gonorrhoea bacteria (Neisseria gonorrhoeae), light micrograph. Gonorrhoea is a venereal (sexually- transmitted) disease. Infection is of the urethra, causing a discharge of yellow fluid. It readily spreads to surrounding tissues. Further spread to the blood or brain may be fatal. Treatment is with antibiotic drugs. Gram stain. Magnification: x500 at 35mm size.
