Food poisoning bacteria. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of several Bacillus cereus bacteria. They are Gram-positive, aerobic, and spore-forming. B. cereus is an important cause of food poisoning. It lives in soil and can contaminate crops. It can resist boiling, and secretes toxins that are not broken down by cooking. Magnification unknown.
