Bumphead Parrotfish (Bolbometopon muricatum) spawning rush. A female makes a dash up out of the school to release her gametes, closely followed by a small group of males competing to fertilise them. Adult fish aggregate over the reef before moving out into blue water to spawn. They time their breeding according to the lunar cycle, with these aggregations taking place in the days before a New Moon. Filmed in Palau.
