Caption

Axial CT scan sequence moving down through a patient's abdomen showing a large, bright kidney stone in the kidney at centre right. It is most visible just right of the vertebra between 5-6 seconds into the clip. Kidney stones form from the precipitation of urine salts, such as calcium oxalate or uric acid. They can block the flow of urine from the kidneys, causing excruciating pain known as renal colic.
