Caption

Chicken droppings contain digested residues of chicken feed and a large proportion of microorganisms. Various forms of bacteria can be seen here. Hen's eggs may become contaminated with this kind of fecal material. Chicken excrement may pollute rivers if not handled properly. This image was obtained by dispersing chicken droppings in water and filtering the slurry through a filter paper. The filtrate was captured on a bacteriological filter and and photographed using a scanning electron microscope. Scale bar is 2 micrometres.
