Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of rod shaped bacteria (orange) clustered on the point of a syringe needle used to administer injections. At this magnification the tip of the needle is seen to be bent with a clump of bacteria growing in the bend. This is the third in a series of pictures at regularly increasing magnifications. Magnification x144 at 35mm, x290 at 70mm size.
