Caption

Caterpillar stage of the Moth (Pachylioides resumens). Not all species of hornworm caterpillars have a horn. In the last instar, hornworm caterpillars may lose the horn during the preceeding molt. The lateral oblique white lines are typical of many species of hornworms and serve to reinforce a cryptic appearance, Costa Rica.
