Scientist testing water samples taken from the melt water river at the snout of the Russell Glacier near Kangerlussuaq, Greenland. The study is looking at how increasing quantities of melt water may affect glacier speed because most glaciers in Greenland have speed up considerably in the last 20 years. It is thought that the melt water helps lubricates the glaciers base enabling it to flow faster.
