Three-dimensional reconstruction of Bacteriophage 29, a double-stranded DNA virus that infects Bacillus subtilis Bacteria. This virus is highly studied because of its mechanism of loading DNA and later injecting it into its bacterial host. This is a tailed phage and when the tail comes in contact with its host it injects the DNA like a syringe. The capsid is blue, head appendages are pink, and the tail is green.
