Representation of anatomical airway (rhinopharynx) in a snorer. During sleep time, there is reduction of the muscular tonus coming from the narrowing of anatomical airway and as a consequence there is a resistance during the passing of air. If the resistance is very strong, the walls of the pharynx vibrate, provoking the snore. In a snorer, for anatomical ou pathological reason, anatomical airway are even more reduced, favor the occurence of the snore : blocked nose, deviation of the nasal septum, nasal concha too voluminous, tonsils too big, soft palate lowered, uvula too long, basis of the tongue too wide, ...
